„I often wonder about what makes an artist to pursue an activity which has seemingly so little to do with the practical life… What leads him to invest energy, time and money to work, which some people find more as a hobby than as a serious way of livelihood? Why does he engage in activity reminding a solitary run sometimes on a really long distance during which he is accompanied often only by his own fears? What keeps artist on this path despite all pressures of “reality”? What gives him the courage?
I think it is the need to interpret stories, which he carries with himself and the joy of creation when coloured surfaces, lines and shapes form under his hands and suddenly begin to speak… I believe that every genuine art work has this story within no matter whether it is abstract or comprehensible at first sight.
The thing about fine arts that fascinates and speaks to me is the authenticity, continuity, honesty, and the older I am, the more also wit and insight. Authenticity and honesty in terms of true survival of the story which, of course, does not mean the absence of inspiration, or message. And continuity as a logical shift, development, in a word “maturation” like with a good wine. Therefore, I do not like questions like: How long does it take you to finish a painting? One day, one week, month, or all the prior lived years?
I wish and hope that at least something of this can be found in my paintings that they will speak to you and entertain you, shortly they will not leave you without a response.”
