Mark Lang was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada in 1966. He now lives in Montreal. He studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and received scholarships and awards from both institutions.
Throughout the nineties he worked as a freelance illustrator for many well known publications in the United States and Canada. Since his first solo exhibition as a painter in 1995 he has been exhibiting regularly. He has received public support for his painting from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec, and is a three-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. His paintings can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States and abroad.
