Artur Przebindowski

artur-przebindowskiArtur Przebindowski – painter and graphic artist. He was born on July 14th, 1967 in Chrzanów. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1993. His supervisor was prof. Roman Banaszewski. As of 1995, he has been regularly presenting his works at exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Painting of Przebindowski’s can be characterized by a well-thought-out image construction, multi-dimensionality, interpenetration and interaction of many perspectives and plans. Visually interesting fragments of urban space have become the main reason for the artist to create autonomous arrangements of visual signs, and this effect is enhanced by multiplication and compositional amendments. Also, sensitivity to sensual qualities of artwork, such as color and light, has played an important role in his works.

Artur Przebindowski has had over twenty individual exhibitions at many galleries, for example the ASP Gallery in Cracow (Homo Faber, 2016), Płock Gallery of Art (Dipping (Zanurzenie), 2015), or at art events, such as the XXII and XXIV Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin (2008, 2012). Also, he has presented his works as a part of cyclical show ‘Megalopolis’ shown at Bielska BWA Gallery, at the Regional Association of Zachęta of Fine Art called ‘Konduktorownia’ in Częstochowa (2011) or at BWA Rzeszów (2013).

He has participated in numerous competitions and art festivals: 8 Arte Laguna Prize, Venice 2014, Premio Combat Prize (Popular Jury Prize), Livorno 2014, ‘Autumn of Bielska’, Bielska BWA Gallery (1995, 1997, 2011 – distinction, 2012 – audience award), Triennial of Small Painting Forms, Wozownia Gallery, Toruń (1997, 2007 – nomination), Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin (1996, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012).

He has taken part in group exhibitions, including ‘Stara Kordegarda’ in Warsaw (1996), an exhibition of the Poland-Japan Foundation of Miyauchi, Tokyo (1996), ‘10 Painters from Poland’ at the Cultural Center in Athens (2000), ‘Into Europe, New Art for the New Reality’ at Bloxham Gallery in London (2004), ‘Polonica in S major’ (Wagner Festival) in Bayreuth, Germany (2012).

He participated in many art fairs, such as The Affordable Art Fair in London (2004), Warsaw Art Fair (2009, 2013, 2016), ADAF, Annual Dutch Art Fair, Amsterdam (2013), Huntenkunst, Ulft, (2012,2013), Kunst en Living, Rotterdam, (2011).

He won the Grand Prix in the ‘Shower – Birth of Pleasures’ competition in Bad Zwischenahn, in Germany in 1998 and the Grand Prix of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage at the XXIII Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin in 2010. He was awarded with the Statutory and Audience Awards at 40th Biennale ‘Autumn of Bielska’ 2011 and with the Popular Jury Prize at the Premio Combat Competition in 2014 in Livorno.
